Strings Stems

AudioPod separates string instruments from any song on the Creator plan and above: upload the track to the Stem Splitter and pick violin, viola, cello, double bass, the whole bowed section, harp, the plucked family, mandolin or banjo — AudioStems, AudioPod's stem-separation engine, returns each as its own file, at 1,320 credits per minute for the Creator+ isolators.

How it works

Step by step

  1. 01

Open the Stem Splitter and upload a song or paste a link.

  2. 02

Switch to Isolate (or Remove) and pick the strings rows you need.

  3. 03

Check the credit quote — it is shown before anything runs.

  4. 04

Download each part. Download as MP3, WAV or FLAC, with 16- or 24-bit for WAV and FLAC, on every plan — the format changes the files, not the price.

Choosing between strings options

  • Section or instruments: Strings (ensemble) returns the whole bowed section as one file. To split the section, pick Violin, Viola, Cello and Double bass instead — each is its own price group, so the prices add together.
  • Cello and double bass overlap in range and are often written an octave apart; when both play the same line, run both and compare.
  • Viola often doubles the violin or cello line; where it does, part of the doubled line can stay in the neighbouring stem.
  • Plucked strings is for when you do not know (or do not care) which plucked instrument it is; Harp, Mandolin and Banjo each have their own isolator.
  • For bass guitar or synth bass rather than an upright, the standard Bass stem on Basic is the right pick.

Good uses

  • Playing along with an orchestral or quartet recording, your part removed.
  • Sampling a cello phrase or harp run for a film or hip-hop production.
  • Hearing a string arrangement on its own to transcribe it.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Should I pick Strings (ensemble) or the single instruments?

Strings (ensemble) when you want the whole bowed section in one file, for example to remove a string pad. The single isolators when you need one part — a cello line, a viola part — and each of those is priced on its own.

Is the double bass the same as the bass stem?

No. The standard Bass stem (every plan) takes the low end of the mix, mostly bass guitar or synth bass. Double bass (Creator+) targets the upright instrument, useful when a bass synth and an upright share a song.

How much does it cost to isolate string instruments?

Each row in the table is one price group, charged per minute of source audio: every row is 1,320 credits per minute. Picking several groups in one job adds their prices. A 4-minute song through one 1,320-credit isolator is 5,280 credits — about $0.70 pay-as-you-go — and Creator's monthly credits cover about 37 songs that long.

Which string instruments are on the free plan?

None of these isolators: Basic includes the standard split (vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other). The strings isolators belong to the 45-instrument menu that Creator and above unlock; every public plan meters stems from credits. See pricing for plan prices.

Can I remove one of these and keep the rest of the song?

Yes for Violin, Viola, Cello, Double bass, Strings (ensemble), Harp, Plucked strings, Mandolin and Banjo: switch the Stem Splitter to Remove mode and pick it. Removing costs the same and needs the same plan as isolating.
