Manifesto

Audio shouldn't be a thin wrapper.

I started AudioPod because the audio stack creators were paying for was a mess, the voice-AI products coming online were sprinting past consent, and every “AI audio” landing page started to feel like a thin wrapper around someone else's model. None of those things had to be true. This is the version of audio AI I wanted to use.

1. The fragmentation tax

Walk into the workspace of a working podcaster, an indie audiobook narrator, or a YouTuber who edits their own audio. You will find five subscriptions doing five jobs that should be one job. Transcription is over there. Vocal separation is over here. Noise reduction is in a third tab. A music generator costs $30/month and lives somewhere else. And the voice clone for the bumper they spent an evening on lives in a fourth account that they keep forgetting the password to.

I don't think that's a real industry. I think that's a tax. It's the creator economy paying rent five times for a thing that should be one studio. The reason it stays that way isn't technical — it's that nobody has wanted to build the whole stack at once. AudioPod is the bet that the whole stack is worth building, that the integrations matter as much as the models, and that creators will pay one subscription for the studio they keep wishing existed.

2. The voice-AI consent gap

Voice is the most personal piece of identity most people will ever digitize. Most voice-AI products today treat it like a file format. You upload a sample, the platform shrugs about whose voice it is, and the clone goes out the door. The unspoken assumption is that the legal system, the platforms, or somebody downstream will sort it out later. They won't.

AudioPod is built on the opposite assumption. Every cloned voice on the platform has a creator who confirmed they own the voice or hold a written license, and a record of that confirmation that we can produce on a legitimate request. We won't clone political figures or non-consenting public figures, full stop. We won't power obvious impersonation-for-fraud use cases. We won't train on customer audio without explicit opt-in.

These aren't marketing lines. They're an operating policy we publish so creators, journalists, and regulators can hold us to them. If we're going to participate in voice AI — and we are — that's the bar.

3. The thin-wrapper problem

A lot of AI products in 2026 are thin wrappers. The tell is in the product itself: vendor names show up in support replies, model SKUs leak into marketing copy, customers can guess the underlying provider from the latency curve. The product is the API key and the screenshot. When the upstream model changes, the product changes underneath the customer.

AudioPod is the opposite. The point of the studio is that the experience is constant — the same workflow, the same quality bar, the same brand voice — even as the underlying models we use change over time. Customers shouldn't need to know who built which subsystem, because their relationship is with us. We pick the best component for each job, swap it when something better arrives, and the seam stays ours.

That's the discipline behind a rule we keep in our codebase: don't name third-party model SKUs or vendors in customer copy. Not in support, not in emails, not in marketing. The product is the brand. Anything else is a tell.

4. Creator-priced, creator-built

Studio time is hundreds of dollars an hour. Voice actors are hundreds per session. Mastering engineers are a few hundred per song. Professional audio used to be priced like a profession. Software priced like software broke that. The cost of audio production should be the cost of a streaming subscription, because that's what most creators can actually afford.

AudioPod is creator-priced on purpose. We'd rather meet a million creators where they are than serve a thousand enterprise customers who pay a hundred times more. Enterprise is a real product for the teams that need it — but the studio that ships through it is the same studio every $19/month creator gets.

5. What's next

The web studio is the foundation. Next is mobile: a consumer voice narrator app for parents, students, and commuters who want studio-quality audio in their pocket. India is core — the largest underserved creator market in the world, and the one we know best.

Long term, AudioPod is the audio layer for the agent-first internet. The same studio that ships through the dashboard ships through an API and an MCP server, so a creator and an agent can use the same tool without translation. That part is already shipping. The next chapters are about reach.

If any of that resonates — as a creator, a partner, a builder, or someone who'd hold us to it — write. The address is at the bottom. I read every one.
