Percussion and FX Stems

AudioPod separates drums, percussion and effect layers from any song on every plan (the drum kit on Basic, the rest on Creator and above): upload the track to the Stem Splitter and pick the drum kit, kit pieces, hand percussion, xylophone and mallets, braams and cinematic hits or sound-design FX — AudioStems, AudioPod's stem-separation engine, returns each as its own file, at 990–1,320 credits per minute for the Creator+ isolators.

How it works

Step by step

  1. 01

Open the Stem Splitter and upload a song or paste a link.

  2. 02

Switch to Isolate (or Remove) and pick the percussion and fx rows you need.

  3. 03

Check the credit quote — it is shown before anything runs.

  4. 04

Download each part. Download as MP3, WAV or FLAC, with 16- or 24-bit for WAV and FLAC, on every plan — the format changes the files, not the price.

Choosing between percussion and fx options

  • Drums is on every plan, Basic included, and takes the kit whole. Kit pieces split it into six files at one price for any or all of them.
  • Percussion is the hand percussion around the kit; the kit itself stays out of it. Xylophone is pitched mallet percussion, kept apart from both.
  • Braams are the big trailer hits; FX is risers, sweeps and texture. Trailer music often layers braams with real brass — to keep the musical brass instead, use the Brass page.
  • To split a film or video soundtrack into dialogue, music and effects, use the dialogue split (remove background music) rather than FX, which is for effects inside music.

Good uses

  • Isolating a conga or bongo groove for a sample.
  • Removing distracting effects from a song for a cleaner edit.
  • Checking how a trailer track is layered.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I split the kick and snare into separate files?

Yes, on Creator and above: the drum-kit pieces return kick, snare, toms, hi-hat, ride and crash, one price for any or all of them.

Can drums go to MIDI?

Not yet — Audio to MIDI transcribes bass, vocals, piano and guitar only. Drums, percussion, mallets and FX return audio.

How much does it cost to isolate drums, percussion and effect layers?

Each row in the table is one price group, charged per minute of source audio: Drums 660, Kick / Snare / Toms / Hi-hat / Ride cymbal / Crash cymbal 990, Percussion 1,320, Xylophone 1,320, Braam / cinematic hits 1,320, FX / sound design 1,320 credits per minute. Picking several groups in one job adds their prices. A 4-minute song through one 1,320-credit isolator is 5,280 credits — about $0.70 pay-as-you-go — and Creator's monthly credits cover about 37 songs that long.

Which drums, percussion and effect layers are on the free plan?

Drums, as part of the standard split (vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other) that Basic runs from its monthly credits. Kick / Snare / Toms / Hi-hat / Ride cymbal / Crash cymbal, Percussion, Xylophone, Braam / cinematic hits and FX / sound design belong to the 45-instrument menu that Creator and above unlock. See pricing for plan prices.

Can I remove one of these and keep the rest of the song?

Yes for Drums, Percussion, Xylophone, Braam / cinematic hits and FX / sound design: switch the Stem Splitter to Remove mode and pick it. Removing costs the same and needs the same plan as isolating. Kick / Snare / Toms / Hi-hat / Ride cymbal / Crash cymbal can be isolated but not removed.
