The settings panel, one control at a time — including the two that disappear on instrumental modes, and the slider that only exists once you turn Auto off.
Lesson 3 · core · 7 min read
Open Music StudioThe settings panel is short on purpose. Most of the panel can stay on Auto for most tracks — the controls below are for the moments when you already know what you need, not for filling in every field before you press generate.
Every control in the settings panel, with the range it offers.
Gender and Language steer a sung vocal, so they only appear on the modes that produce one. Switch to Instrumental, Samples and Remix and they are gone — not disabled, gone. Nothing is wrong: there is no vocal for them to act on.
Note
Language is independent of the language you type in. Write your lyrics however you like and pick the language you want them sung in — you get that language’s phrasing and accent, across 50+ languages.
How long the track should be. Auto is on by default and lets the studio choose a length that suits the arrangement. The slider only appears once you switch Auto off. That is why the panel can look like it has no length setting at all — the slider is not missing, it is waiting. The range once you switch Auto off is 10 seconds to 10 minutes.
Estimated cost
990 credits for a 1-minute track.
A one-minute track. Longer durations cost proportionally more, which is the practical reason to leave Auto on while you are still iterating on a description.
Seed and Creativity are not musical settings — they change how the studio behaves between generations, which makes them the two worth understanding properly.
The starting point for the randomness. Fix it when you want to change one thing and hear only that change; let it move when you want fresh ideas.
How far the studio strays from the safe reading of your description. Lower is more predictable and more literal; higher takes more risks. Range: 0.5 to 1.
Tip
Fixed Seed plus one changed phrase is the whole technique. Everything else — including which of the 2 takes you keep — is easier once the only variable is the one you chose.
A finished track is not the end of the controls. Retake, Extend, Repaint and Edit all work on a track you already have, so a take that is eighty per cent right is a starting point rather than a discard.
