Free tool
Runs entirely in your browser. Live audio level meter, instant pass/fail indicator. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is recorded.
Try it
Click start, grant the permission prompt, and speak. The bar tracks your peak input level in real time.
Live meter
We listen to your mic in real time and show the peak level. Nothing is recorded.
How it works
The mic test uses your browser's built-in Web Audio API to analyze the live stream from getUserMedia. No data is sent over the network, no recording is saved, and no account is required.
Step 1
Your browser will ask whether to allow microphone access. The prompt is the only place this site interacts with your hardware.
Step 2
The bar shows the peak amplitude over a short rolling window. If it lights up when you speak, your mic is working.
Step 3
Hit stop to release the mic. The browser tab will drop the active-mic indicator and we tear down the audio context.
Open the full AudioPod toolkit to record, narrate, clone, denoise, and master — all in the same place.
